In 1985, Komatsu Ltd. established a wholly owned subsidiary, KDC Ltd., to handle domestic sales of Komatsu's high-quality diesel engines. It was renamed Komatsu Diesel Ltd. in September 1987.In April 1997, following internal restructuring that boosted sales and service functions, Komatsu Diesel began exporting engines. Our main markets are power generation, construction and industrial equipment and rolling stock and marine. By offering a strong product line-up and comprehensive aftersales service, Komatsu Diesel consistently achieves customer satisfaction. We take R&D very seriously, allowing us to pioneer such developments as the release of Power Units, in which engines are combined with transmission systems or combined with hydraulic equipment. We are also selling generator packages around the globe, and aggressively exploring new opportunities. We are committed to responding to the needs of the changing marketplace.
